Awesome Foundation Oahu hosted "Trustee For A Night, Awesome For A Lifetime" July 27, 2016. At this inspirational event not one, not two, but THREE applicants were awarded $1,000!  We are thrilled to announce Operation Purple Paws, LCC  as one of three $1,000 recipient. Gayle Puou, founder and President of Operation Purple Paws, LLC contacted Awesome Foundation Oahu. Operation Purple Paws, LLC is an all volunteer based Animal Assisted Therapy organization that will be serving our community with using dogs to comfort those that are in need of emotional, social, and physical stimulation. The areas they will be serving are: the aging community, home-bound seniors, especially seniors receiving services from public agencies, service men and women along with their families and survivors of man-caused and national disasters.

Many soldiers returning home from deployments are seeking emotional support. Therapy dogs will give them the support that they seek while they are recovering from other injuries or reestablishing back into the community.

Survivors of man-caused and natural disasters. After losing their personal belongings, property, and maybe loved ones, the therapy dogs will bring comfort to those in need. Children, our youngest survivors, will be able to find comfort for as long as they need it while their families pick-up the pieces and get back on their feet.

Operation Purple Paws, LLC plan on using Awesome's $1,000 to purchase service vests for our four-legged friends who will be volunteering their time with their handlers. These dogs will be the forefront of this business, sending messages in the community when they are helping others heal. Their tagline, Heal the Heart, Heal the Soul, along with their logo (pictured above), will be printed on each vest. The goal is set at 50 dogs to start.

AFOAHU is glad we can part of this amazing program and know what a benefit a service animal can be. Mahalo to all the volunteers at Operation Purple Paws, LLC for making this happen.
