Awesome Foundation Oahu is proud to announce that February’s winner is Trystyn Yamanka.  Trisstyn is 7 years old and was born with an rare form of (FCMD) Fukuyama Congenital Muscular Dystrophy

Trystyn is the only child at home, he loves his school, friends, teachers, family, people, and animals. At times when he is home, his mom knows he feels alone and frustrated because he is not able to move around physically or communicate his feelings in words. He is in a 7 year old body, but has a mind of a 1 year old child. According to his mom, Trystyn is very intuitive, loving, happy, funny, and most of all helps others with his feelings with empathy.

According to his mom, Trystyn loves being around other kids, people, and animals. Anytime they are around animals he loves, he smiles and yells for joy. The love that he has is so unconditional for everything that his parents decided to get him a companion and service dog that will always be with him, protect him, love him, be his companion, and help him with some of his needs. They got Trystyn his first puppy name CoCo Bailey, she is a French bull dog and is very loving and connected with Trystyn. The boy and dog were love at first sight when they first met. Trystyn is very attached to her, but CoCo needs to be trained properly for Trystyn's needs. The mom would love to have CoCo certified as a service dog for Trystyn and needed help with paying for a dog trainer.

The grant will be used towards a Certified Dog Trainer to help train CoCo to Trystyn's needs and to be his service dog, so that CoCo can be with Trystyn at all times.

We are thrilled to help Trystyn, CoCo, and his family.
